Margaret Ellis Jewelry utilizes strong shapes and textures to bring new relevance to classic handcrafted designs. Precious metals, individually select pearls and stones form modern and timeless works of art designed to be worn for years to come. The designs continually evolve but our focus will always remain on the people who love and collect our pieces. Whether worn with jeans or an evening gown, Margaret Ellis jewelry is a vivid reminder that every day is a special occasion.

Mclaine Richardson launched Margaret Ellis Jewelry in January 2013 following her purchase of Margaret Ellis, Inc. from the legendary founder upon her retirement. Mclaine chose to honor her mentor's 30-year design history and long-time collectors by keeping Margaret’s name, but it’s now often referred to simply as ME.

Each unique design is made with love in our Nashville studio from the highest-quality materials by experienced craftsman with over 80 years of combined experience. Fabricated in signature sterling silver, bronze, 18k and 22k gold highlighted with individually selected stones, each piece of Margaret Ellis jewelry is made-to-order using traditional metalsmith techniques to create a unique and distinctive style that is easily recognizable as ME. Committed to sustainability and local production, scrap metal is recycled and stones are ethically sourced.

The true story of Margaret Ellis Jewelry is told through the lives of our friends, the collectors, who bring ME to life. Mclaine is committed to offering timeless heirloom-quality collections each season. Her love of art history and fashion influence a creative vision that gives reference to the past and yet very relevant to the moment. Margaret Ellis Jewelry is sold in our Berry Hill studio showroom in Nashville, Tennessee, as well as select high-end boutiques and galleries nationwide.

Our Team

Mclaine Richardson is the owner and designer of Margaret Ellis Jewelry. The native Nashvillian is an artist at heart and an entrepreneur by choice. Her love of art and design was fostered over thirteen years at University School of Nashville and Furman University where she graduated with a self-designed individualized curriculum degree in Business and Design. It was while studying abroad at Lorenzo de' Medici in Florence, Italy that she first discovered her interest in metalwork and jewelry design. She never imagined that this was the path that she would take when she accepted a job in healthcare marketing upon graduation. As fate would have it, Mclaine soon joined Margaret Ellis Inc. in 2009 as a production metalsmith. She quickly took on more and more responsibilities in studio management and design before ultimately purchasing the business from Margaret on December 31, 2012.

Mclaine relies on the skill and support of master metalsmiths Edward Tomlin and Anjy Smith to bring each of her designs to life. The collaborative studio environment allows for unsurpassed creativity, inspiration and a really interesting place to work and visit.

Edward has been a key member of the Margaret Ellis team since Margaret started her business in 1983. He studied jewelry design at the Atlanta School of Art and Penland Craft Center. Anjy has worked at Margaret Ellis since 1991. She studied fashion at Nossi School of Art and learned the art of jewelry-making on the job at ME studio. This talented duo take pride in the meticulous craftsmanship of every single piece of signed jewelry that leaves the studio.

Connie Cathcart-Richardson, co-founder of Nashville Fashion Week and an active advocate of Nashville's growing fashion community, assists Mclaine with business management and marketing. Connie has been a friend and collector of Margaret Ellis jewelry since 1988 and is without question ME’s biggest fan, as well as one proud mom.
